Cleveland Indians Go for MLB Record 22nd Straight Win Tonight

The Cleveland Indians are on an absolute tear, obviously.  Their win over the Tigers yesterday gave them their 21st consecutive victory, setting the all-time AL record.  Longer than Moneyball’s very own 2002 Oakland Athletics and now are tied with the 1935 Chicago Cubs for the longest win streak in MLB history. Some may think that the 1916 New York Giants have the record at 26, but they had a tie in the middle of that streak so that number is just a lossless streak, not a pure win streak.

The Twitter Name is sweet.  It’s cool to see a team not only win 21 in a row, but be dominant as they do it.

The Indians face the Royals tonight at 6:10 PM, sending Josh Tomlin to face off against Jake Junis.  The MLB record could be set tonight.  Stay tuned to Twitter, ESPN and right here on Backup Quarterback tonight to see if the record is broken.

Go Cubs.
