The San Francisco 49ers are officially back. A backup quarterback has come to The Bay to save a franchise.
I get it, Jimmy G looked pretty gosh darn good when he played and a lot of experts and coaches really like him. But the fact that a guy with his statline is considered to be good enough for a 2nd round pick that is basically a late 1st round pick.
These are the stats of the guy that will turn around this team. The team that has one of the worst rosters in the NFL. He probably won’t play in his first week but he will be in there sooner rather than later. The 9ers have NOTHING to lose.
I personally don’t think they fell in love with any of the QBs in this year’s draft and pulled the trigger on Garoppolo. A 2nd rounder is a little too much IMO but I am sitting at home typing on my computer and John Lynch is the one pulling strings over in San Fran. Jimmy G could even end up being a stud and this trade will be the move that changed the whole direction of their franchise.
