The Nikola Mirotic Saga continues, I guess. Reports were saying that the Bulls were sending the power forward to New Orleans for Omer Asik and a 1st Round pick. It seems like a good deal for both teams. The Bulls getting more and more picks to stockpile young players through the draft is the best way to go because they will eventually land a solid late first round pick and look good with all of their top picks. The Pelicans got Asik off of their books and will be able to negotiate with big Free Agents in the offseason.
It seemed like a win-win trade for both teams, but the Pelicans did not guarantee to pick up Mirotic’s option for next season and that forced Mirotic veto the trade. It is a shame because I would love to see the Bulls continue to rebuild and get Benny the Bull and the rest of the crew from the Windy City relevant again.
