The Bears Passing Game Gets a Little Stronger: Add Allen Robinson & Trey Burton

Here we go, this is the kind of moves I like to see. The Bears actively trying to make the passing game better. Two young pass-catchers that have the opportunity to grow with Trubisky and become real threats on Sundays. Let’s take a look at these guys:

Allen Robinson, WR

I am very excited about this move. Robinson may seem risky because he is coming off of a torn ACL last season and he may have lost some of his explosiveness because of it. SPIN ZONE: He tore it on the third play of the regular season and has had plenty of time to recover and should be ready to go for Week 1. Medicine is incredible now-a-days and he could come back and seem like he never left. If Robinson can get back to around 90% of what he was, 80 catches for 1,400 yards in 2016, then the Bears have themselves a #1 guy for Mitch to play with.

Trey Burton, TE

This may not seem like a big deal, but it also has me excited. Burton is a pass-catching tight end and looking at the Chiefs’ Offense last season, the TE will be heavily used. Burton is most well-known for being the guy who threw the pass in the Super Bowl to Nick Foles. Well now he has the chance to team up with Adam Shaheen and become the best two-man tight end team since the killer duo Gronk and Aaron Hernandez (pun intended). This also takes a little pressure off of Shaheen and makes him just a back seat threat, which could be exactly what he needs.

Burton had 23 catches for 248 yards and 5 TDs in a limited role in Philly last season. That is some good production with the limited chances he got. An increased role in Chicago might help him break out.

This is starting to get exciting.
